Botswana Oil Limited (BOL) was established to support the Botswana Government achieve broader economic objectives of ensuring security and efficiency of petroleum products supply to Botswana as well as facilitating active citizen involvement in the petroleum industry. The BOL product range includes petrol (ULP 93 and 95, and diesel (50 PPM). In addition to providing customers with petroleum products in bulk, BOL creates opportunities for supplying/importing petroleum products into Botswana. BOL also leases storage facilities to citizen owned companies to store petroleum products for sale to their customers.

Botswana Oil Limited (BOL) is a company incorporated under
the Companies Act of Botswana. It is wholly owned by the
Botswana Government, represented by Ministry of Minerals
and Energy Security (MME). The Company functions under
defined governance and operating principles to inform and
guide its operations.

BOL MANDATE TO ENSURE SECURITY OF SUPPLY AND EFFICIENT DISTRIBUTION OF PETROLEUM PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
Botswana Oil Limited serves as the Botswana Government’s transformation agent and is mandated to:
• Ensure the security and effi ciency of supply of petroleum products for Botswana
• Manage state-owned strategic fuel reserve facilities, strategic stocks as well as bulk storage and distribution
• Facilitate the participation of citizen emerging companies in the oil and gas sector

Botswana Oil Limited aims to meet its strategic objectives by ensuring:

• Procurement and securing of fuel supplies on behalf of the Botswana Government; Alternative supply routes to mitigate risks associated with single source of supply; Optimal management of Government’s strategic fuel stocks;

• Provision of product to the market to ensure continuous supplies;

• Development of opportunities to leverage fuel storage facilities to generate income;

• Development of strategic partnerships with international and regional stakeholders in the oil industry.
